Thrust collar
An element of the design of a hydroelectric generator of suspended type. In umbrella-type hydrogenerators, the rotor collar serves as the thrust bearing collar. The thrust collar sleeve provides a secure and rigid support for the thrust disc. The seating surfaces ensure that the disc mirror is horizontal and flat and perpendicular to the rotor axis when loaded. The axial load from the rotating parts of the hydrogenerator and the hydraulic load of the water column is transferred to the thrust through the thrust collar. In some cases, the outer surface of the thrust collar is the sliding surface for the pilot bearing segments.
